How this site handles what you submit
Written in plain language for recruiters and hiring leaders, not as a legal document. Covers Ask Julie AI and the Role Fit Analyzer — this site’s two interactive AI tools.
What you can submit
This site has two interactive AI tools: Ask Julie AI, which answers free-typed questions about Julie’s background, and the Role Fit Analyzer, where you paste in a job description (or describe a role) to see how it compares against her experience. Only the text you intentionally submit is used as input to the AI tools. The application does not add other page content, files, clipboard contents, or information from your device to the AI prompt.
How your submission is processed
Your question or job description goes to this site’s own server (hosted on Vercel), which combines it with a curated set of Julie’s verified career evidence and sends that to an AI model for a grounded answer. The model runs on self-hosted hardware Julie personally owns and controls. Requests are relayed to a constrained AI proxy through Tailscale Funnel over an encrypted connection. The AI model itself is not directly exposed to the public internet, and the proxy accepts requests only through the application’s authenticated request path — every request needs a server-held secret that is never sent to your browser, and the proxy will only ever perform one narrow operation (generate an answer with the fixed model this site uses), never anything broader. The generated answer travels back the same path to your browser.
What this application stores or logs
Nothing you type is written to a database — there is no database anywhere in this application. This is true at every stage we operate: the website’s own server code, the self-hosted proxy in front of the AI model, and the AI model’s own server process all log only operational metadata — request timing, token counts, HTTP status — never the question, job description, or answer text itself. We verified this directly against the actual log files on the machine that runs the model, not just the application code, before writing this sentence. The one exception is a short-lived, one-way hash of your network address, held only in memory on the proxy to apply a fair-use rate limit — never paired with anything you typed, and gone when that process restarts.
Are conversations retained?
No. Each question or analysis is handled independently — there is no chat history, no account, and no session that carries information from one request to the next. Refreshing the page or asking a new question starts clean every time.
Is a third-party AI provider involved?
No. This is the part most sites like this can’t honestly say: Ask Julie AI and the Role Fit Analyzer run on Qwen, an open-weight model executed locally by Ollama on Julie’s own computer. Nothing you submit is ever sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other AI vendor — there’s no such vendor in the path to ask about retention, because inference happens on hardware Julie controls, not on anyone else’s servers.
What we can and can’t vouch for beyond our own code
Two general-purpose infrastructure providers sit in the path regardless of what you submit: Vercel, which hosts this website, and Tailscale, whose Funnel service is what lets Vercel reach Julie’s computer over an encrypted connection without her needing to open it directly to the internet. Neither is an AI provider, and this application’s own code — which we control and can verify directly — never instructs either one to log or persist your submission. Three separate things are true at once here, and worth keeping distinct:
- The content you submit to the AI tools — verified not stored or logged by this application, the proxy, or the AI model process, as described above.
- Vercel Web Analytics — collects anonymous, aggregate usage data (page views, load performance) as a matter of this site’s own configuration. It does not receive or process what you type into the AI tools.
- Standard Vercel hosting and security infrastructure — like any web host, Vercel’s platform necessarily handles ordinary connection-level request metadata (your IP address, browser headers, and similar) simply to serve any page or API call on this site, including these AI tools. That is routine web infrastructure, separate from this application’s own code, and we have not audited Vercel’s or Tailscale’s internal operational practices for that layer beyond what they publish themselves — the same honest limit that applies to any site built on hosting you don’t personally run.
Which other third parties are involved
Resend is used only if you use the separate Contact form to send Julie a message directly — unrelated to Ask Julie AI or the Role Fit Analyzer, and not something either of those tools sends your input through.
Please don’t submit sensitive information
These tools are a portfolio demonstration, not an enterprise-grade data processor. Please don’t submit confidential, proprietary, regulated, or otherwise sensitive company information — including non-public job requisition details you’re not authorized to share externally. A general description of a role is all the Role Fit Analyzer needs.
